Fun little thing from bearmoon

1) If you could meet a favorite artist/singer/writer and spend the day with them, what would you do? Well if it was my favorite singer I would have them sing... nonstop. XD Humm... honestly I'd rather meet just about any manga artist and have them draw me pictures (pics of me and whatever else). XD

2) What is your favorite house chore? - More like what is my least hated housechore: vacuuming

3) Oh my goodness! Yasuaki just stepped out of your tv screen, and the other hachishyou are following suit. What do you do? - LOL for those that don't know she is talking about the chracters decorating my icons an journal XD. I'd probably either faint or scream in terror. Think about it, that would be scary freaky. After I recovered then I would proceed to glomp them like a good fangirl. ^^

4) Do you rememeber any special bedtime story when you were younger? - My mom used to read the American Girl stories to me and my sisters before bed. That was fun (before they got all commericalized). :D

5) How much effort do you put into waking up in the morning? - Depends on how long I slept. If length of sleep = short I usually have to force myself to get up. If lenght of sleep = long I can jump out of bed and be ready to go.

Now i have to stop because LJ is freezing my computer for some reason. >_>

Wow I really neglect this thing. Well that's not 100% true, I have posted on my communities a few times, just not my journal. No offense guys but I don't really feel like typing "I worked, I ate, I slept" or share the random ramblings of my brain with all of you. Although come to think of it I haven't even posted since I went to Scotland and Ireland in June. Bah! Well I'm not going to do manga reviews anymore because I decided I don't care. Sooo as part of making this back into a normal blog I'm gonna steal something from Ash's LJ.

7 Quirks
1. I can't roll my tongue (you know that genetic test you have to do in high school?)
2. I love ketsup but hate tomatoes.
3. I'm anal about my clothes matching. I love blue but never wear it because is usually doesn't match my blue jeans.
4. I still have a stuffed animal on my bed, and I've saved my favorites from childhood.
5. I get excited about geeky coding things.
6. I'm a Batman fangirl (which you would know if you've ever emailed me)
7. I've felt old since I turned 20. XD

So you know how when you are little they always make you read stories about some kid and his/her dog and how they grew up with said dog and then the dog dies and the kid has to learn about death (and as a kid reading it you have to learn about death)? Well I could never relate to those stories because although I liked my families dog he wasn't "my dog" and he only lived to be about 12 so I didn't really grow up with him.

But then this week I realized that my family had an old cat that was just like the dog in all those dumb stories. She was going to be 17 years old this summer, and I could probably count my memories from before she was born on my fingers. She ended up adopting my Dad as "her human" somewhere along the line, which was totally random since my Dad didn't even like cats until after she adopted him.

So I'm guessing you realized this is leading up to she died this week. My parents took her in to get put down yesterday because she had a large tumor in her mouth that was making it impossible for her to eat and she couldn't close her mouth so she constantly had spit running out of her mouth. I've always been a person to say "put the pet down, don't give it massive surgery to keep it alive because you can't know how much pain it is in". I've always been anti putting pets in pain when you are trying to selfishly keep them alive. But I found myself almost fighting that these past few days because I wanted my parents to keep her alive so I could say goodbye to my kitty. In the end I'm glad my parents put her down before I could see her, because I wouldn't want her to suffer and I wouldn't want to remember her like that.

Ahh... please don't fell you have to reply to this comforting me, I'm actually not that sad anymore. :)

I'm doing a new format with the reviews because I didn't like the old way:

Series: Arcana
By: Yua Kotegawa
Scanlator: Selene Scans

Summary: This is a supernatural/fantasy type manga the focuses on a girl called "Maki" and the 2 policemen (Murakami and Nakabayashi) she helps. Maki can speak to and heal spirits, she also has a few other skills that are revealed as the series progresses. The basic plot is that the policemen (who are hilarious btw) stumble upon or are assigned strange/difficult cases and Maki helps them solve them.

Good Points:
+ Decent amount of humor but doesn't detract from the original story
+ Moves at a pretty swift pace (only 2 volumes) and manages to pack in more plot then some 7 volume series I've read
+ Not too scary (well I considered this a plus because I am a big chicken when it comes to horor stories)
+ There's an interesting plot twist near the end

Bad Points:
- Rather bloody (the spirits are usually how they looked when they died and let's just say they didn't die from old age)
- Some langauge (no other major objectionable content)
- If you aren't into the 3 main characters you're going to hate it because it's pretty much only about them
- Suffers from what I call the "expendable crewmen disease" meaning it's not a mysetery if someone (usually a character that was just introduced) dies

Pi Day

No review for today, I just wanted to remind everyone that today is Pi Day (3.14). Normally this is not something that I would be aware of, or even care about for that matter. But my company is run by math geeks (save me!) so it's a day we recognize and actually celebrate. Believe it or now we have a party at 1:59 where we get to eat pies of all different kinds. Since I love pie (other then rubarb ewwwwww...) this is definately not a tradition I have a problem with. :)

And since I probably won't post again, Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I'm guessing most of you aren't Iriish (but I am so I get a little crazy about it XD ) it's an excuse to wear green, so what's not to like about this holiday?

Wow, a second post in 2 days?!? Well I could say that "I'm awesome" but in reality I'm just really, really trying to procastinate from working on my DNAngel vector. XD

Why do so many people have user pics without borders on them? It makes me want to cringe just from looking at them! I wonder if that means I'm anal (since I HAVE to have borders on my avatars of any kind)? Or maybe it's some deep meaning that I have a closed personality and like things boxed in and nicely confined? Well whatever, just don't ever expect to see me using a userpic that doesn't have a border. XD

Series: Vampire juuji kai
Author: Shirodaira Kyou
Artist: Kimura Yuri's
Group: tsuzuku jinsei o ...

Summary: According to legened over a thousand years ago the world was almost destroyed when the vampire queen unleashed her enormous power. The humans were terrified of her power so they sealed her away until they found a way to destroy her. They put up hundreds of fake seals as well so that they could disguise the location of the queen. Because someone else wants to break her seal. The vampire king cast aside his kingdom and betrayed his people long ago, all in his quest to find his queen and free her. The dhampirs (half vampire and half human) follow him like hounds, hoping to find a opportunity to kill him. And the Black Swan hunts the vampire as well...

Nudity/Sex: Pretty much zero. A character thinks that Strauss, the vampre king, was unfaithful to his queen (he wasn't) and tells him off. XD

Language: The dhampirs swear a bit, especially when they are fighting with Strauss.

Violence: Quite a lot, although the body count in what I have seen so far is pretty low. Since most of the characters are vampires they can have parts of their bodies blown away (which happens on ocassion) and still regenerate. One character is stabbed through with 2 swords and dies. Since the incident with the queen, vampires and dhampirs were hunted by humans so they now have to hide and somewhat live in fear that the hunt will start up again and wipe them out completely.

Other: The vampires supposedly came from the moon, although there hasn't been much about why they came, or how their kingdom was originally started on Earth.

This series has a bit of a supernatural twist to it that is kind of a fun/refreshing change of pace. Personally I usually don't like vampire related series because they are quite often either a blood bath or full of so much religious mumbo jumbo I want to gag. This is neither of those, and right from the start it sets out to show that vampires can still have great depth as characters. Plus there is the fact that Strauss is going though all this trouble just so he can get his girl back (Awww!) what girl wouldn't like that? ;D Although I would honestly call this more of a action series then a romance, although it has some elements of romance mixed in, I'd say 75% of the scenes so far were action/fight scenes.

Nadeshiko / Nadesico Club

Argh! This is the second time I am writing this because F-ing LJ decided to delete my text! Argh!

So anyway, when I am bored at work I spend my time reading random and useless triva on the Internet. Last week I learned about rabies, today I read about Mary Sues, and I am really very proud of myself that I managed not to burst out laughing while I was at work! Seriously, you need to read this Wikipedia entry. (Unless you are a big Mary Sue fan, then don't read it of you might get very very mad at me.)

I also decided I am a big fan of daylight savings time. I left work late (as usual), went to the store, and it was still light when I got home! If that's not cool I don't know what is!

Title: Nadeshiko (Nadesico Club)
Author: Sakamoto Miku
Length: 7 volumes
Group: Perfect Illusions

Summary: Reo-chan is a first year who is pretty much obsessed with her boyfriend. Then he dumps her because she supposedly doesn't have enough home economic type skills to suit him (sexist pig! >_< ). But she makes him promise to take her back if she can improve by joining the housework club. But is she in for a suprise when she goes to the club and discovers it's made up of only 4 other guys!

Nudity/Sex: A guy is shown naked except for an apron.
Violence: Some of the guys have dark/violent sides but they don't beat people up or draw blood.
Language: Some minor swearing but it's usually pretty appropriate for the situation. :)
Other: Irinaka, the only other first year in the club, gets picked on/boderline beat on by the other members, including Reo eventually. XD

Wow, I didn't realize how un-offensive this series was until just know. It also has a hilarious side to it, and somehow manages to be interesting even though it focuses mostly on housework related activities. The guys also teach Reo a lot about friendship and loyalty, so overall I'd say it's a clean AND fun read. ;)

I seriously can't believe how many people on LJ have paid journals. It totally blows me away to think that people would be willing to pay that kind of $$. Of course I guess I'm a bit of a hipocrit since I pay over $100 a year for my server hosting. XD That reminds me I need to order more artbooks (gosh I'm going to be broke). I recently discovered the wonder that is YesAsia, although I have the hardest time finding what I want on that site. >_< I'll definately be making an order from them in the future though...

Title: Onii-chan To Issho (Japanese)
Author: Tokeino Hari
Length: 5 Volumes Ongoing
Scanlator: Esthetique

Summary: Sakura's parents died when she was young so she lived with her grandmother. Then when she was 14 her grandmother also died, leaving Sakura by herself, or so she thought. Then four guys show up at her house one day, informing her that they are her older half-brothers. There's the oldest (a shoujo writer), 2nd oldest (Japanese language teacher), middle (part-time pizza delivery (not sure what he does with the rest of his time)), and the youngest (high school student).  Oh and did I mention that all four of them think the world revolves around Sakura? :) They sometimes have a hard time showing their feelings in a non-embarassing manner though.

Sex: None, although Masashi (oldest) likes to cross dress. He claims it's because of his job though. He also likes to try to sleep with Sakura and hugs her really tightly as often as possible. It's all pretty harmless though. Some people might also be weirded out by how obsessed the brothers are with Sakura (it is border line freaky).
Language: Tsuyoshi (pizza guy) swears more then a little, mostly at Masashi. XD
Violence: Well Masashi gets kicked in the head quite a bit by Tsuyoshi, although he usually deserves it.
Other: They visit a shrine. There is also a bizarre relationship between Sakura's former parents, and as a child Masashi was in love with a married woman. There's also the fact that the story is basically about 4 (much) older guys living with a middle school girl.

Overall it's a fun (and hilarious) typical-fluff shoujo story. The brothers definitely have distinct personalities which gives the story a nice dimension to it. Definately a series I'd recommend!

I've been planning on starting a manga downloads/anime review journal thing on my domain. So it suddenly occurred to me that it was stupid of me to do it on my domain using Cutenews when I had this perfectly good LJ account that I wasn't using. Plus the readership on here will probably be bigger. XD

OMGosh though, LJ has come a long ways since I was last here. I did manage to customize my layout a bit, even though this is a free account. It's made to look best on 1280x1024 resolutions because that's what I have, so sorry but I bet it looks kind of bad on other resolutions.

So to any poor person that is still on my friends list you can feel free to take me off. XD I will be posting manga downloads and anime mini-reviews on ocassion but I won't really be on that much and I'll probably be bad about replying to other people's posts. T_T

Ok I've decided to stop pretending. For whatever reason I don't feel like posting in my LJ anymore, which means I don't feel like coming here, which means I don't read your posts, which means I don't want to post something since I feel guilty I haven't read your posts, and in the end it's all just a very nasty cycle. :(

I tend to do all my interests in spurts. Last year it was LJ, now it's MiniTokyo, who knows what it will be by next summer. I may be back here, but I'm not sure at this point. I had fun getting to know all of you, and reading your journal entries for the past year. :) I wish all of you luck with your futures be it in school, in a job, or whatever. ^^ If any of you need/want to get in touch with me in the future you can email me at batgirlwi(at)yahoo(dot)com Oh, I'm going to disable comments since knowing me I wouldn't respond to them anyway. *sigh*

Anime?

Humph. The new anime for this season just does not interest me at all. :\ The only one I am midly interested in is Uta-Kata which I have a sinking feeling is going to turn into a Sailor Moon/Card Captors remix. And then I see that Cartoon Network is waiting till November to show Full Metal Alchemist! Things are looking bleak.

Although if you have Cartoon Network and are looking for a new show to watch I recommend. .hack//dusk (or it's also called .hack//legend of the twilight) Which is on CN on Friday evenings. It's less angsty and slow/boring then .hack//sign and the animation is more colorful. It's not the most groundbreaking plot ever but it's simple fun. (plus Balmung plays a big part so how can you pass it up? ;D ) The dub is pretty good too. I saw the subbed version and I would have to say the dub is just as good. There is one character where I don't like his voice as much as the japanese version, but several of the English versions I actully prefer since their voices are so whiney. Then again they did a ok job with Balmung's voice so I guess that would allow me to forgive just about anything. XD Although just to warn everyone one of the upcoming episodes has a kiss between two guys (it's totally accident (they crash into each other)) but neither one of them liked it at all (you should hear them scream once they realize what just happened.) XD Hahaha, and the faces they make afterwards are sooo funny.

Hi everyone! I'm finally back (I think)... XD I'm going to try and make reading my journal part of my daily routine again and I'll try to read some of the past entries (at least a page or two), so sorry if I comment on some of your old stuff.

Well I just did my one disagreeable thing for the day. I went and got the placement statastics for my College Major (which is something I have to think about since this is my last year of college). Talk about depressing. -_- The %s are not so good let's just say that. Meh. And I want to go into web design too. T_T

Ok now for a quick summary on what I've been up to:
Expanded my site - which is down for some reason right now curse you hosting company! Ragnarok - Now I have a Wizzard, Merchant, and my Thief is almost a Sin. Yay for time wasting on Rangarok! XD Anime - I'm starting to really like this Samauri 7 show. And I'm still watching Ragnarok, Prince of Tennis, and Hikaru no Go, and Inuyasha. Hummm.. no wonder it seems like I have hardly anytime left for homework. XD

Well yeah that's my life (the fun part at least) right now. I hope all of you down in Florida are safe from the hurricane. I'll be praying!

Ok first off any of you are near Boston between now and october you MUST go to the Lord of the Rings exhibit at the science museum. It will seriously blow you away it is so cool. :D One of the exhibits measures your height to see what character you would be (so all the kids are hobbits or dwarves, lol) I was special since I'm like 5'9'' so I had 4 options (Human, Elf, Wizzard, short Urikai) XD

Also, special thanks to honchi for the link in one of her old journal entries to the special paradoy episode of Ragnarok online. I finally got around to watching it, and well I started laughing with the "we are the staff" parady of the opening song and basically didn't stop laughing till then end. Actually I started crying it was so funny. XD I don't think you would find it as amusing though if you haven't played the game AND seen the series.

My goodness it has been too long since I posted here. T_T T_T T_T I'm very sorry everyone (*Blames Ragnarok and working on my site*). If you want to take me off your friends lists (or if you already did) that is fine it won't hurt my feelings. I will probably not be posting that much until school starts up in September. School gives me more to talk about...

Oh yes in case you are curious about the Subject of this post that is the sound of what I was doing about 2 minutes ago. Someone brought in a set of Castanuelas for another person in the office where I am working for the summer. (They are the little things that click together that Spanish dancers use.) And since I am all alone in the office today I decided I should practice. :D

Ok yeah I'm a dork. XD But it was pretty easy actually.

Hey everyone I'm back! I finally got settled here in Boston for the summer, and I actually like my job! (Yeah I know who'd have thought?) :D I made a new theme for my journal too. I love my background but I think this icon is sort of ... dumb. I'll probably make two more matching ones though anyway. I was getting so sick of that Aoshi one that anything was an improvement in my mind.

And I have off on Monday! YAAAAY!!! It's been so long since I didn't have to work a holiday at stupid Wal-mart. Or a weekend too. I have those off now! :D

Oh and I bought the Two Towers game since it finally came down to $20. Hope I actually get a chance to play it! Although since my anime intake has been severely cut that is actually quite possible. My icon is from the new show Kyou Kara Maou but I might stop watching it if they keep inceasing the hinted at yaoi. -_- It just starts to get annoying after awhile ya know?

Oh and all you Ragnarok players I should finally get started this weekend! I'll be on the Sakray server.

Hello everyone! *waves* I've missed talking to all of you soo much :D (and no I'm not lying)!

Well my computer is still broken, hopefully it will be fixed by next week. And I won't be posting again until it is fixed since I have exams next week x_x *dies*

Oh yes, I am going to be playing Ragnarok this summer online on the test server. (Sakray) and I'm going to be paying for the whoooole summer! ^_^ So after I get going and figure out some of the basic stuff, I hope all of you who have never tried it will do the 15 day free trial thing and we can play together!

Hehe, I've been anime starved with my computer broken so I decided to try to download some on the school computer. And... it worked! o_O I can't believe Bittorrent installed. O_O Except I don't think I should do it again. It's downloading at 318KiBs per second. That is waaaay fast. X_X I don't want to get in trouble, seriously it is going to be done in 8 minutes (the latest Saiyuki RELOAD episode) I suppose i could try stopping it and starting it to sort of stagger the dowload but it probably wouldn't help that much.

Oh and I'm going to let my paid account for my LJ here expire. I just don't use it enough ;____; Sorry Kym that you wasted your time trying to help me. :(

Well yay! I am so tallented! I broke my computer. >_< It's in this annoying loop where it will go to the windows loading screen and then restart itself and start loading all over again. -_- Like I said it's really annoying. According to my sister I need a restore disk (which I don't have) so I guess I have to go and bother the geeks at the student help desk later today, and see if they can hook me up with one. Knowing my luck I'll have to lug my computer in there. @_@

So I'm just letting all of you know that so you don't wonder why I'm not posting on your journals. Cause needless to say, this has really ticked me off, so I don't really feel like using the computer labs. Hopefully I'll be back soon.

stupid homework projects suck

I never thought homework could be so annoying. If I have to read on Babycenter one more time about those mothers bitching about how they are overdue and they have nothing to do because they are stuck at home, I am going to get violent. x_x Once I finally get married and have kids I will NEVER act like that. Those women have no lives besides their husbands, babycenter.com, and obsessing over their kids or soon to be kids.

Oh yessss I hate my Internet Marketing teacher. >_< She has some sick sense of humor to pick this site for our final essay.

Oh and for clarification I'm not really pissed off, I just can't stand this assignment any longer!

New anime

We're in second place right now (with the help of my vote ;) You have to register but you don't really have to put your real contact info in just your real e-mail address. ^_^ So go and vote!

Secondly if you read my earlier posts you saw that my anime downloading time has been cut down. ;____; But I was curious as to if anyone has checked out any of the new series that debuted in the last few weeks, and if yes, were there any shows you liked?

Right now I'm trying to save up actual series to watch over the summer like Hunter x Hunter and Hikaru no Go, and the last of the available Prince of Tennis. Anyone have any suggestions for shows that are "must sees"? (besides Fullmetal Alchemist) :D

Why oh why did I even bother buying a paid account for this thing? ;____; I haven't even put up the layout I wanted to use. Pffft! :P I'll probably just let it expire. I just don't use this dumb thing enough.

Sorry everyone I have been reading your posts... except since my uhhh... last post. I've been busy working on my site and re-watching Get Backers (wow! I had forgotten how great that show is. XD I love it) and doing homework. Actually I should be doing homework right now. I got some crappy web assignment that involves C# and ASP.Net and lots of other things I don't understand. >_< So I thought I'd come here and complain about it rather then actually doing it. XD

Oh and i have to go to Babycenter.com for an assignment and join the forums and stuff (yes I hate my teacher for picking that site >_<) So anyway there was a chick on there like "oh I want to raise my baby to be a Christian even though me and my boyfriend aren't, and I don't want to become a Chrisitian since I'm not going to marry my boyfriend until I'm 17 and until then I'm going to keep sleeping with him."

Ok that's not exactly what she said my a rough summary. First of all I was like O_O!!!! If she is getting married when she is 17 how old does that make her now? 16? 15? younger? What is this world coming to. Sheesh!

Bah this stinks! Our housing service (which also provides internet) doesn't like file sharing problems so they turned off my internet! So after I promised that I deleted Kazaa they turned it back on again. But now they just called saying the same thing is happening.

Well I'm not on Kazaa I'm on Bittorrent. So he is going to check again tomorrow to see if it is fixed. While since I'm not stupid I'll just not have Bittorrent going so it will be "fixed". But can they see your actual programs running or can they just watch the amount of bandwidth you are consuming? I'm assuming not cause then they would no it wasn't Kazaa and they would have said something about Bittorrent. Like if I just had one slow moving Bittorrent (like 1KiB/s or less) going would they be able to tell?

I figure I won't do anything until the weekend but I assume he is able to go back and look at the network traffic in the past so it's not like I can just only make it go at night or the weekends. Anyone have any advice? I don't want to be hogging the internet for other people but I do want to be able to at least download Full Metal Alchemist when it comes out every week. I only have to put up with this till the end of the school year at least! I'll be paying for cable Internet next year so I'm going to hog all I want. ^_^
