5:05p When a normally tolerable fandom becomes the opposite.
For those who watch Code Geass (and if not...well you could still get something out of this), you are well aware there is a second season in Japan dubbed "R2" with Suzaku's burning hatred of Lelouch. Though I primarily watch the community of said show for updates on information, fanart, or discussion, I can't help but notice some rater illogical and insensible relevations some members have chosen to make.
( for slightly out-of-it content. )

7:21p Holy Mother of Edison!
What were you (fangirls) thinking? You could've broken my brain!
Oh, no, wait. You did. And I don't care that this is another 'and then they came for me' rant. Better here than there.
Seriously, what is up with you and 'humanized' fanart of anthro-type shows and movies? (Stupidly obvious question is stupidly obvious.) I ran across it in Cars, I've ran across it in Sonic the Hedgehog...and then, on my search for Brave Little Toaster fanart (since fanfic is pretty much nonexistent), guess what I find?
I really shouldn't be surprised. The characters in the movie are incredibly likeable. I'll admit to being very attached and able to relate to the two in my icon and liking their relationship in the film (oddly enough, 1setence claim or not, I'm more interested in the sort of squabbling sibling/friendly rival dynamic they seem to have, rather than OMG!romance.) I can honestly see where the pairing madness comes from.
And...I can...um, kind of see where your logic comes from as well. By all means, let's pair appliances together, but they're not hot as appliances at all! Let's make them into human, pretty-boy versions of themselves! We'll even explain who's who in the fanart description! Then we can have them snogging! There shall be much squeeing (I privately think of this as the Mating Cry of the Fangirl) and faving of art. And...you make me sick.
Maybe this is the Typical Dumb Male in me, but I can't fully understand the reason this is so popular, never mind why I'm so riled up about it. I probably never will. Maybe a sociology class would help. As of now, the fact is...there's just not enough fact.

10:54p The funniest text convo I've ever had in my life
Before I start, I figure I explain why our names are rather odd.
First off, I'm "Ryan Korean" on Amber's phone, mostly because she felt that "Korean" would be much more suitable than "Kim". No objections here as it's not my phone.
Amber is properly programmed as "Sensual Amber" in my phone, which she finds to be incredibly funny. The story is that once she was in a store (I believe Bath & Body Works) with her mom one day, and she apparently likes all scents that have the name "Amber" in it. She saw a bottle of "Sensual Amber", and picked it up.
Right then, her mother goes "Oh Amber, you're not sensual!".
The day I heard that story, I changed "Amber Smith" to "Sensual Amber". Much hilarity ensued. Do note that I hold no romantic affection towards Amber.
To maintain the authenticity of the convo, no grammar has been altered besides quotation marks. (I'm sure Corrie will whip out her red pen on this one)
Ryan Korean: "Hey Amber, I have a very important question for you." Sensual Amber: "Please ask it" Ryan Korean: "My very important question is this: What you gonna do with all that junk, all that junk inside that trunk?" Sensual Amber: "Thats easy: in gonna get you drunk get you love drunk off this trunk" Ryan Korean: "ROFL. Oh man. This text alone made my entire day Sensual Amber: "Haha i love you!" Ryan Korean: "What you gonna do with all that as-... er... nevermind. =p" Sensual Amber: "Haha haha haha rofl"
So yeah. We're a bunch of bumbling retards who are easily amused. End of story.

9:25p
There's a lot on my mind at the moment. I don't really seem to vent much nowadays, but I figure I give a go at it.
1. Money Money. Everybody needs it; nobody has enough of it. Tuition is really kicking me in the butt, and I'm going to need about 1,500 dollars this summer if I want to take 12 credits worth of classes to knock out some Gen-Eds. On top of that, I'm going to need more money for next semester.
2. Driving I have a license. Despite this fact, driving still scares the crap out of me. Starting June, I'm going to be driving about three days a week in order to attend summer classes. I really need to pick up the slack and practice driving a lot more this month.
3. Scholarship and FAFSA Applications Somewhat similar to #1. Deadlines deadlines deadlines. I hate deadlines. Sad as it may be, laziness is getting the best of me. I need to hurry and finish my Korean-America Scholarship application as well as turn in my required FAFSA forms.
4. Car for next semester Somewhat similar to #1 and #2, I'm seriously hoping to get a car for next semester. It would make things a whole lot easier on both me and my friends. On top of that, it could give me an opportunity to acquire a job off-campus.
5. Girl-related issues. Not too stressful, but lingering thoughts have been in the back of my mind. Not fun at all. If anything, it's more like a mild fear and a feeling of uncertainty. It's kind of impossible to really deal with these now, so I figure I just try to not worry too much about it.
6. A job Also similar to #1. I actually have to get up tomorrow at 6 AM to work at my mom's friend's convenience store at the lottery machine. Yeah, that'll be fun. It's not that I haven't had experience in it before, it's just that I'm generally always annoyed when I have to do something new and I'm in no mood to do so. It's mostly the fact that I'm going to be doing it for about twelve hours and I have to get up so early. But hey, I'm getting paid to do so and I could probably be able to snack on random munchies while I'm at it. I'm also probably going to have to do this much more often, so I may as well get used to it.
current mood: stressed current music: Regina Spektor - Edit

9:33p Warning: Lemuroids ahead
When I was a kid, I was constantly hearing my brother tell me about inventions he thought up, only to see them on TV a week later. I would turn to tease him about it, assuming he saw the commercial earlier and faked his "invention," but the look of horror on his little face dismissed that theory outright. I've never quite sympathized with this attitude, until now.
Today at Barnes and Noble, I stumbled upon a delightful little book, Kawaii Not, which is actually a compliation of the webcomic that I'm now thoroughly addicted to (nota bene: hey Nick, they have t-shirts! That would make a great random Ashley gift). Man, where was this idea like, 3 years ago when I was an art student! But still, I guess I should just be glad that it exists and further, that it makes me laugh so hard that people commented on it in the store.
But if dinner conversation is any inspiration, I may be doodling out some really cute monkey STDs. Maybe that will make me some cash!
In other news, I may have also experienced the phenomenon known as "double booking" for the first time in life as I try to juggle way more commitment than day into tomorrow.
And lastly, I'm not sure if it makes me happy to see that I have most of this stuff, or sad that I already have SO MUCH and still lust after more.
EDIT: Ninety-freakin' four on that Natural Science final. Eat that, Mitchell. I DID make an A in your class, which means your epic schemes to ruin my GPA failed.

7:27p What I hate the most...
Isn't the whole squealing of "It's canon!!" from the fangirls.
Isn't the rampant OOC-ness.
Isn't the misogyny, typifying, cliches...
It's incest.
Or more specifically, parent/child incest. Like Kratos/Lloyd or Dad Winchester/Dean or Sam. (I've even seen one where Homer and Bart Simpson went on a father/son 'bonding' trip, if you know what I mean.) When a father starts sexing up his son because- ye gods! They hugged in canon- and overstepping parental love. Where fangirls watch the proceedings and cry "I know what it is, but it's cuuute!!"
I know what it is as well. It's child abuse, glossed over and glorified as hawt yaoi buttsecks wuv. It's portraying a father doing something a father would surely be arrested and tried for in real life and making it look like a glorious, adorable thing because his son conceeded to it. Screw the whole "It's consensual!" thing- it's still sick and wrong, There is nothing cute about this. At all.
The same could be said about shotacon, but that's a whole 'nother rant.
---
And in other news, I'm trying to get the taste of my friend's fanfic out of my mouth. Let's just say she thinks that Burns and Smithers (also from the Simpsons) ought to hook up in canon; thus, her fanfiction features them doing so. A lot. I just wasn't expecting sexing...is this what she wants from Matt Groening??
---
Oh, and I hate to toot my own horn, but I'm writing (attempting to, anyway) an original story for fictionpress; it's intended to be a reversal on some of the tropes of yaoi plots and nonesuch. It shall concern a love triangle between a high school senior, the male college student he's been involved with, and his female (OMG!) childhood friend. And the way I'm writing it, he'll end up with the girl. Not because I'm homophobic (I'm a bi male, for crying out loud!), not because I think M/F is superior to M/M, but because it makes the most sense thus far. And I can only imagine the hate mail I'd get for writing such a thing.

9:25p WHAT. THE. HECK. FANDOM.
On a discussion about proof for the One Piece yaoi pairing of Zolo and Sanji:
"You know Oda´s intending to make them KISS later on? Not an actual fact, but bloody obvious by now. He keeps making them "almost" kiss, each time their faces getting a bit closer, one day they´re gonna kiss :3 I hope I´ll be able to see it soon :3"
I think a part of me died when I read that. I almost replied, but I' not sure what I would have said. I was just too dumbfounded.
Seriously fandom, what is your damage?
As usual, I'm here to rant about yaoi fandom, not gossip about people, so don't ask me for a link to the original post. However, I had to get this out. Either I say it here or I end up blowing up at the person.
